The Famous Belief: Money Can’t Buy Happiness

Money Cant Buy Happiness

Have you ever heard the saying “money can’t buy happiness?” This saying can actually be limiting you from making more money. Believing in such sayings is a poor way of feeling better about yourself if you don’t have the money you wish you’d accumulate. Money should not even be categorized with happiness which is why this saying makes absolutely no sense and should not be a defining factor for making big bucks. Happiness, should not even be in the same sentence as money, as they are two completely different categories. Instead of pondering on such cliché’s, why not focus on what money CAN do for you.

Money CAN Buy Freedom

Money has absolutely nothing to do with happiness. Believing that money can’t buy happiness is just irrelevant to even be thinking about. The only things money will do for you, is give you more freedom to do, have, and be what ever you want. That reason alone is the main existence of cash, to give you freedom to do as you please, when you please. Your drive for making money should not be one of becoming a happier person, nor should thinking that making more money will make your miserable, they shouldn’t be compared! Money allows you to not worry so you can focus on other things in life that WILL make you happy. If you want to make a bigger income, you need to love money, having a sore loser mindset such as “oh well, money can’t buy happiness” will not do you any good and is pointless to even contemplate about. It’s an excuse, and a poor way of feeling sympathy for yourself.

Money Will Only Make You More Of Who You Already Are

One of the many reasons people have a scarce mindset about this touchy subject, is because they see all of these shows and movies where someone will get rich, and begin to act differently, which demotivates them from going after their dreams. Money can’t do this to you, the only thing it can do, is make you more of who you already are. For example, Will Smith once said “Money and success don’t change people; they merely AMPLIFY what is already there.”

“Money is neither my god nor my devil. It is a form of energy that tends to make us more of who we already are, whether it’s greedy or loving.” – Dan Millman

Let me give you an example from the Simpsons. In a recent episode, Lisa Simpson invested in Nelson Muntz to start his own business because he was poor, and as a result Nelson became wealthy enough to support himself. Nelson soon began to make enough that he decided to drop out of school. Lisa got furious because she believed that giving charity to Nelson would change him and make him a nicer, smarter person. So, Lisa went to her grandpa, Grandpa Simpson and asked why Nelson is making such a bad decision. Grandpa Simpson new the answer, he said something along the lines of “Lisa, money can’t change people, money can only make them more of who they already are”. Since Nelson was already living a certain type of lifestyle, money just made the lifestyle he was already living, more glamorized.

Making money will not change you; it will just make you more of who you already are. So if you are already living a life you like, money will only make it better, and vice versa.

Be Happy & Be Rich Too

Money may not buy happiness, but wouldn’t it be great to be happy and be rich too? That’s the type of mindset you should have if you really want to be successful. Sayings like money “can’t buy happiness”, will only make you think in a way that avoids wealth. A better way to think about the idea of money is to believe that you are already happy, and can’t wait to have more money in your life because that will just make the you that is already happy, even happier. What you should be focused on is being a happier person, and making money while you do it. Read about the successful people on this website in the model the masters sector, and it will quickly become evident that the ones that are living a joyful life did something they loved, and as a result became rich while still being happy.

You see, money and happiness are two total different subjects. If you want to be happier in life, don’t think making more money is the answer. However, don’t for a second think that money will make you miserable; money will just help you be more of who you are. I hope that reading this changes your mind about money, so that your only reason to make more money is to enhance the lifestyle you are already living.
