Kate Upton is a winner in life. The American supermodel is rich, famous, beautiful, and successful as the face of Guess, the cover star of Vogue and has a role in 2 Hollywood movies. However, to a surprise, even blessed with the face of an angel and the body of the devil, the winner was not granted all these successes in life, and she has had to fight all her life through numerous critics which have never stopped trying to shoot her down in her career and life.

As the blonde bombshell in every man’s fantasy, when Upton was just a child, instead of being Regina George who can rule everything in her campus, she actually fell as a victim of bully for her appearance.
“Kids can be cruel, and they used to make fun of me for having long legs and bushy eyebrows,” The 24-year-old stunning cover star revealed in an interview. Being told as ugly, Upton’s self-esteem could be as low as Hannah Baker’s, and severely depressed by how her face and body were just seen to be so out of place.
However, thanks to Upton’s caring mother, or we wouldn’t be able to witness the bubbly gorgeous supermodel killing every photo-shoot nowadays. When her mother noticed her daughter’s struggles with the bullies at school, she came to confront her and told her that she was just beautiful just the way she was.
The supermodel said, “My mom would flip through magazines and say, ‘Look, all these models have that too.’ Motivated by her mother, to prove all of the bullies wrong, Upton was determined to become a supermodel herself.

Becoming the supermodel who may look picture-perfect in every bikini shoot, just like many young girls, the Michigan native was having a hard time dealing with her weight issues as well.
In an interview, she opened up about the pressure that she had to lose weight to stay relevant as a model. Even with her curvy killer body that so many people wished they could own, Kate obviously couldn’t seem to fit in the high-fashion world in which most girls only wear clothes in size from 0 to 2.
For that reason, her sexy curves had become another controversial topic when it came to her modeling. As the bombshell was working for her Sports Illustrated cover, in which she revealed a stunning breadth of cleavage, a fierce round of “Is she fat?” discussions had been set off and went viral across the Internet.
As confident as the model appeared to be in her cover shoot, she, nevertheless, admitted that it wasn’t that easy breezy for her to handle such harsh criticism, saying “It was hard at first. You sit there and you’re like ‘Is something wrong with me?’ ”
In order to fix what was “wrong” with her, the model tried what every girl would do. She revealed, “At first I tried to diet to become their image.” Fortunately, the model had decided to give up on her plan as she came to realize that the idea of becoming an image “wasn’t realistic” at all.
She said, “The things that they’re rejecting are things that I can’t change. I can’t change my bra size. They’re natural! I can work out and I can stay healthy and motivated, but I can’t change some things.”
By then, she has managed to leave her critics behind by letting the haters hate. She said, “So I had to block them out. I think that the people who are the loudest about wanting to change you are the people with the least amount of vision and creativity.”
In the meantime, the curvy model has started to see her healthy body as a god-given gift of hers as she has learnt to love “the shape of my(her) body” for how natural it is. “I really just live my life. I love my body. It’s what God gave me!” said Upton in an interview.
Eventually, keeping those curves has definitely paid off for the model. By embracing her individuality, Upton feel more “confident” with herself, and by that, she also would like to send out a message about body positivity that “other women” should learn to love “their own bodies.

While the model has already been judged from head to toe that you think the criticism may end here, it didn’t as one famous casting agent, Sophia Neophitou, took it to a whole new level. The agent openly slammed the model for being a vulgar blonde and for that, claimed that she “would never use her(Upton).”
With the meanest comments possible, the lingerie executive called out on Upton, saying “She’s like a page-three girl, she’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blonde hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy”.
The model then was shocked by being criticized by an agent who she “had never met” so publicly and still “wasn’t used to that kind of media swirl.”.
Despite that, learnt from her experience in dealing with criticism, Upton said it was easy at that time as she told a reporter that the snarky comments were just her “introduction to being in the spotlight and having people you’ve never met have an opinion of you.”
Kate Upton Became Successful for Not Looking into Criticisms
Apparently, neither the bullies from school, nor the haters on the Internet, not even the famous model agent have held Upton back from becoming successful in her modeling career.
The rising movie star admitted that she used to find the hateful comments upsetting, however she now has held a more positive perspective on those comments which were believed to win her many female fans who appreciate the model for embracing her natural figure.
In an interview with Alexa Chung in Vogue, the model said, “I was just being myself and living my life, and then, whenever the criticism started, I did (think I could be a positive role model for women). I just thought how I’m going to come out of this will be an example for girls.”
Upton confessed that her physique has surely posed many obstacles in her earlier career. Yet, the actress grew emotionally stronger than she has ever had before and has been determined to let no haters affect her well-being anymore. She explained, “I have to say, the other day I was reading some negative comments, and I was thinking they were really funny,” she told Glamour. “So I guess they don’t [hurt me] anymore.”
As one of the cover stars on the “fashion bible”, Vogue, and being starred in the Hollywood movie “The Other Woman” with, the chubby bombshell has gracefully shut down the haters through transforming into an unstoppable supermodel.
