“The Universe is one great kindergarten for man. Everything that exists has brought with it its own peculiar lesson. The mountain teaches stability and grandeur; the ocean immensity and change. Forests, lakes, and rivers, clouds and winds, stars and flowers, stupendous glaciers and crystal snowflakes, — every form of animate or inanimate existence, leaves its impress upon the soul of man. Even the bee and ant have brought their little lessons of industry and economy.” – Orison Swett Marden
The Universe, or nature, or both, may be the grandest example to us all of what’s possible when things function with order and purpose. And, when it comes to teams and teamwork, nature offers many lessons for us to observe.
This quote speaks about the lessons of industry and economy that both the ant and the bee demonstrate for us to follow. They also each offer amazing lessons about what can be accomplished as a team.
If you are interested in a fascinating lesson on the power of a TEAM. I recommend you take the time to study both Pack and Pride. Each holds a special lesson we can bring from nature into our work. Lessons abound, life is abundant, nature has an abundance of lessons waiting to be learned. Choose one, learn it, apply it, then share it with someone else… This is the power of TEAM!
The “A” team, or ant team as it is in this case, demonstrates regularly if we will but watch, valuable lessons on what can be accomplished together with teamwork and persistence. How many ants will come together to move an object, pass over water, or go over or through an obstacle? Answer: As many as it takes! How long will they try to succeed? Answer: Until!!! Until they succeed, period!
And now for the “B” team, or Bee team in this case. Bees, like ants, have specific jobs or functions. However, just like ants, bees will do whatever is necessary to ensure the safety and productivity of the hive. The key factor is, they work together. They effectively work together to nurture the health of their organization, the hive!
So, whether you are an ant or a bee, a wolf, or a lion, or whatever other species you want to reflect upon, know that if we function together with the simplistic tenets of the pack or the pride, we will accomplish together what none of us could ever achieved alone!
