Madonna Success Story: 3 Keys To Greatness
She Had A Very Strong Inner Belief In Herself And Had Major Self Worth:
“I always thought I should be treated like a star.” Madonna had what many people could learn from, the ability to believe in herself. When the young and ambitious singer was asked what she wanted to do she replied “to rule the world”. She was, as many know, a very rebellious person, she didn’t do what she was necessarily told to do, she did what she wanted to do and therefore would succeed to great heights. From the very beginning, she was always a tom boy and would often have a tough time fitting in, but she never changed who she was to belong. “Growing up, I didn’t feel cool; I didn’t fit into any crowd.” She did whatever she wanted; she was an extremely energetic girl as she would perform cartwheels and handstands in the hallways between classes, she would dangle by her knees from the monkey bars during recess, and pull up her skirt during class so that the boys could see her underwear. “I think in the end, when you’re famous, people like to narrow you down to a few personality traits. I think I’ve just become this ambitious, say-whatever’s-on-her-mind, intimidating person. And that’s part of my personality, but it’s certainly not anywhere near the whole thing.”
Madonna Was Independent And Stood On Her Own Two Feet:
“One thing I’ve learned is that I’m not the owner of my talent; I’m the manager of it.” She was a very self-reliant individual. When Madonna was still a young child her mother had died from breast cancer and she eventually learned to take care of herself and her siblings. Many argue that much of Madonna’s drive to succeed has been due to the death of her mother. Even when her father remarried she would not listen to her step mother, and instead learned on her own through trial and error. She quotes “Poor is the man whose pleasures depend on the permission of another”. Becoming a self-dependent person will allow you to not rely on others to succeed. She also pushed the boundaries and defined her own happiness and what that meant and looked like for her. She put the pen in her hands and wrote her own story!
Madonna Aimed For Perfection In Everything She Did, And Remained Her True Self Throughout:
“I refuse to act the way someone expects me to.” When she was in her youth she claims she never wore make-up or shaved her underarms like normal girls, however she got good grades and states that she knew she wanted to become a “somebody”. Madonna had a drive for perfectionism and high-achievement. She was a straight-A student, a cheerleader, and became a disciplined dancer who graduated from high school a semester earlier than her age. Eventually her hard work earned her the attentions of the University of Michigan, which offered her a full scholarship to their dance program. Madonna started to work as a backup dancer for other established artists which gave her many insights into her own career.
“I’m tough, ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, okay.” – Quote by Madonna
Madonna had continuously grown as an artist, and became an amazing self-marketer who took massive risks for herself and music in general. “If I can’t be daring in my work or the way I live my life, then I don’t really see the point of being on this planet.” She took full control of her music and image, but mainly through her videos, concerts, and lyrics. Her songs use many controversial themes such as family, religion, sex, politics and spirituality. Growing up through many hardships has made Madonna a tough soul that has inspired millions. She is also widely diverse as she won critical acclaim for her Golden Globe Award in the film Evita, and even became a fashion designer, wrote a children’s book, was a film director, and a producer. Madonna has even been acclaimed as a businesswoman, as she signed a $120 million contract with Live Nation.
“I’m always looking for something new: a new inspiration, a new philosophy, a new way to look at something, new talent.” – Quote by Madonna
