“You see you wouldn’t ask why the rose that grew from the concrete had damaged pedals. On the contrary, we would all celebrate it’s tenacity, we would all love it’s will to reach the sun. We are the roses, this is the concrete, these are my damaged pedals.” – 2pac

“My name is Derrick Rose and I’m just a kid from Chicago. Being in Chicago, you know you got to go through things, it just builds your character as a person. It showed me a lot and it grew me into who you see right now. And as far as me knowing that, I always just try and stay positive, showing kids that there’s always another way. I think nothing is just given to you, but as far as your dreams and what you want to accomplish in life, and where you want to be, I feel like you got to sacrifice something. Just think about, just that consistent hard work that you put in, it’s going to put you in the right direction and hopefully one day you will be able to reach your dreams.” – Derrick Rose
