Curtis Jackson (50 Cent) From Nothing To Everything

50 cent poverty

It’s hard to find people who rose literally from nothing, all the way through to the pinnacle of their chosen profession. They are out there, don’t get me wrong. It’s just that not everyone has done it. With a little bit of motivation, hard work and strong ethics, there is no reason why you couldn’t become one of those people in your desired life’s work.

50 Cent didn’t always rap, and he wasn’t always a drug dealer, what he was throughout his life was driven and motivated. He went after exactly what he wanted, and he didn’t stop until he got it. You don’t get to the top of your chosen profession without hard work and training, but more so, the will to get there. People are born with natural abilities, but it’s up to them to master, practice and hone them until they become the best of the best.

He learned his work-ethic from a young age, through boxing at age 11 and even made it to the Junior Olympic level. The training and hard work that he had to use in boxing, directly translated to every other task that he took on throughout his life. This quote from 50 Cent perfectly represents his attitude to his success :

“I don’t think it makes me a role model. I think it makes me inspiring. Cause I’m from the bottom I think they look at me and go ‘well, if he made it, I can make it.’”

The next step on the path towards success was as dangerous as it was lucrative, drug dealing. Not all of us are able to live in a nice neighbourhood, attend prestigious schools and have both of our parents available for everything we need. 50 Cent lost his mother at age 8 and then moved into his grandparents’ house. When you’re surrounded by poverty and there are people who look wealthy and drive flashy cars, then obviously you will be attracted to that lifestyle, no matter the cost. At age 12 he started dealing drugs, and applied his drive and passion towards his new career. It wasn’t until he was shot 9 times that he knew it was time to apply his strong work-ethic in a new direction. It was while he was recovering from his injuries that 50 Cent set out on a path towards not only wealth but world-wide fame.

Hard work, positive attitude and drive for success, led 50 Cent towards some of the music industries most popular stars. Learning from an industry legend, Jam Master Jay, 50 Cent was on the path to another career high, music fame and fortune. After being signed as a musician, 50 Cent had two of the most popular and inspiring musicians of all time as his mentors, Eminem and Dr. Dre. Now he had not only attained the wealth and fame that he always sought, but it was also legitimate.

Having come from nothing, with no substantial education and no close support network 50 Cent is a living example to everybody, that passion, purpose and hard work equals success.
