Ray Kroc was extremely ambitious and hard-working. In his teen years, he dropped out of high school only to become the top salesperson of a sales company selling plastic cups. He worked, worked, and worked various jobs before finding the infamous small-town McDonald’s hamburger shop. Once he got his hands in on McDonald’s his work-ethic was so strong that he was able to make McDonald’s the most recognizable restaurant in the world. Ray Kroc’s Vision Was So Strong That Nothing Came In His Way:

Kroc had a vision and didn’t let anything stop him, literally, he wanted full-control of McDonald’s to make it perfect. After partnering with the McDonald’s brothers and taking things to the next level, Kroc eventually bought them out, he states He states “The McDonald brothers were simply not on my wavelength at all. I was obsessed with the idea of making McDonald’s the biggest and the best. They were content with what they had; they didn’t want to be bothered with more risks and more demands.” However there was a complication as the two brothers still owned the first original restaurant but had to change the name to The Big M to differentiate their selves from Kroc’s now owned McDonald’s restaurants. However, Kroc wanted full ownership of every single restaurant and so he opened up a McDonald’s across from the Big M which quickly ran the two brothers out of business. He wasn’t afraid to take up space in the world. He states “Perfection is very difficult to achieve, and perfection was what I wanted in McDonald’s. Everything else was secondary for me.”


Ray Kroc Left The “Average Lifestyle” To Go For The Great:

Like John D Rockefeller once quoted, “don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great!” and Kroc wasn’t. When he was the top sales person at his first job, he quit the job after seeing opportunity in selling milkshake machines, and while making a lot of money selling milkshake machines (one of which was selling the machines to a small restaurant called “McDonald’s) he saw opportunity in the McDonald’s restaurant, which he wasted no time in negotiating, taking over and eventually made the biggest fast food franchise in the world. Kroc kept leaving one opportunity for the next greater opportunity, he wasn’t looking for security, but something bigger.
