What Made Marilyn Monroe Inspiring And Successful:

Marilyn Monroe Had A “Fighting Spirit” And A Genuine Positive Mentality Despite Her Upbringing:

Marilyn Monroe (Norma Jeane) grew up with very challenging situations; she never knew her father and her mother was put into a mental institution for having psychiatric problems. In fact, Marilyn had a very fond early childhood memory of her mother pushing a pillow in her face while she lay in a crib. She was constantly moving from foster homes to orphanages. This is also where some of her first inner desires began to formulate “Some of my foster families used to send me to the movies to get me out of the house and there I’d sit all day and way into the night. Up in the front, there with the screen so big, a little kid all alone, and I loved it. I loved anything that moved up there and I didn’t miss anything that happened and there was no popcorn either.” She began living with a family who adopted her, but eventually the family moved out east and she was back to foster homes by age 7 where she was apparently sexually assaulted. Monroe claimed she was also raped at age 11 and that she made the aim of getting married by age 16 to avoid having to live in foster homes. She would get married and upon her husband’s move to the South Pacific, she began working at an aircraft plant. Marilyn Monroe was found by a photographer and began her new career as a model where she showcased swimsuits and died her hair to blonde. She became a renown model and then strived for further dreams of reaching star status as an actress. Although she always felt alone, she did however, have a fighting spirit, one that never allowed her circumstances to bring her down. This mentality along with her open mindedness and good looks brought the opportunities knocking on her door. But with her fame – she grew a lot of critics as she has admitted on several occasions that she wished success never came with such envy and jealousy. But, nonetheless, she battled through it and continued her personal passions and manifested massive success on the international level. People admired her not only for being a sex symbol, but also for her genuine and honest characteristics. Due to not being fed with a silver spoon, she was able to capture the heart’s of many who could feel her vulnerable but humane energy. She humbly stated “Nothing’s ever easy as long as you go on living.” This was her gift, her sincerity, her truth be told ways and her wittiness that made her so admirable.

Marilyn Monroe Had A Good Blend: She Was Comfortable With Who She Was & Embraced Who She Could Be:

Marilyn Monroe loved fashion, beauty, and enjoyed writing and reading poetry. But according to many, her acting was not a gift so to speak, she got nervous and always had a coach around giving her signals. And she even stuttered often. However there was always something about her that people couldn’t pin point that made her mysteriously phenomenal. It was her realness about things and her eagerness to succeed all at the same time, “My illusions didn’t have anything to do with being a fine actress. I knew how third rate I was. I could actually feel my lack of talent, as if it were cheap clothes I was wearing inside. But my God, how I wanted to learn, to change, to improve!” Marilyn Monroe, was very genuine about herself, she was straight up and completely comfortable within. From appearing nude in Playboy to being fashionably late for everything – and she made no point in trying to change or be more tardy. Her blind but truthful ways can best be understood with her quote “If I had observed all the rules, I’d never have gotten anywhere.” She learned the guitar for her role in River Of No Return and the Ukulele for her role in Some Like it Hot and listened to Beethoven records prior to her short singing career. As a testament to embracing knowledge and growth, her own personal library held over 400 books on an array of topics from art to history, psychology, philosophy, literature, religion, and poetry which included her own pencilled notations. “Some people have been unkind. If I say I want to grow as an actress, they look at my figure. If I say I want to develop, to learn my craft, they laugh. Somehow they don’t expect me to be serious about my work.” But that never stopped her, she pressed on, and the world loathed her for it – she goes down in history as a very influential figure.

Marilyn Monroe Dreamed, Had Inner Confidence And Became An Independent Woman:

She dreamt of becoming an actress like Jean Harlow and Lana Turner and right after her modelling career took off, she jumped into acting – where she eventually realized she needed more knowledge and went on to New York for coaching. Having no comfort to retreat to or fall back on also allowed her to always shoot for the stars! Monroe studied acting at the Actors’ lab in Hollywood, as well as took literature courses at UCLA. She certainly propelled her career by dreaming and obtaining a strong feeling within that she was already an actress. And she even admitted that “Dreaming about being an actress, is more exciting than being one.” It took her many B-list movies before she would get the chance to become a popular star. Looking back at her career, Marilyn Monroe set a precedence for her times: being a woman, being sexy and making it all happen work-wise too. Proof of her bold and determined ways, she once said “Someone said to me, ‘If fifty percent of the experts in Hollywood said you had no talent and should give up, what would you do?’ My answer was then and still is, ‘If a hundred percent told me that, all one hundred percent would be wrong.'” She confidently went nude for Playboy and although she was often seen as just a sex symbol – she was much more of a modern day independent woman who acted, modelled, sang and even owned her own production company too. Although she didn’t make much money during a time when equal wages were not relevant, she did, however push the feminist agenda with her ambition, drive and opinionated ways. She became a powerful woman who dated star baseball players, writers and directors and was even friends with President John F. Kennedy to whom she sang happy birthday to. Her influence was enormous as she was sang about in major hits, written about and even portrayed for her likeness in the Batman series. There are over 600 books written about her, mostly for the huge mark she put on the planet. From Marilyn Monroe’s own defiant words, “I defy gravity”.
